Speaker Interview Questions That Get Real Answers

Ask a generic question, get a generic answer. If you want soundbites that go viral, you need to break the "Corporate Script."

You have 5 minutes with a keynote speaker backstage. If you ask "How are you finding the event?", you will get the same answer everyone else gets.

The Setup Matters

Don't interview them against a flat wall. Use depth. Put the blurred event activity in the background. It adds kinetic energy to the shot.

3 Questions for Better Soundbites

1. "What is one thing people get wrong about [Topic]?"

Why it works: It invites controversy and correction. It positions the speaker as an expert debunking a myth. These clips perform 2x better on LinkedIn.

2. "If you could go back to the start of your career, what advice would you ignore?"

Why it works: It forces a personal story. It moves away from "Best Practices" and into "Real Experience."

3. "In one sentence, what is the future of [Industry]?"

Why it works: Constraints breed creativity. Asking for "one sentence" forces a punchy, confident statement that is perfect for a 15-second Reel.

The "Silence" Technique

When they finish answering... don't speak immediately. Wait 3 seconds.

Most people are uncomfortable with silence. They will often fill that gap with a second, more honest, less rehearsed thought. That second thought is usually the gold.
